How should i prepare my waterproof menu print job?

File preparation for waterproof paper is no different that regular printing. We prefer PDF files, but can accept, jpegs, tifs, .eps & most files generated from the Adobe Creative Suite. Don't forget to add bleed if you want your art to go all the way to the edge of the paper!

Our pre-press department will check your file for bleeds, crop marks and resolution. If your file needs additional time for adjustments, we charge a prorated hourly rate of $75.

What image resolution should i use?

DPI (dots per inch) refers to the number of pixels found in a printed image. The higher the DPI is, the better the detail and clarity of your image. We recommend 300dpi for your artwork you submit to waterproofmenu.com.

What is a Bleed?

What does the term "Bleed" mean? Bleed is a printing term that is used to describe a document which has images or elements that touch the edge of the page, extending beyond the trim edge and leaving no white margin. When a document has bleed, it must be printed on a larger sheet of paper and then trimmed down.

For example:f the trimmed menu size is 8.5” x 11”, then the submitted file should be 8.75” x 11.25” to give .125” bleed on all sides.

Keep critical text and images at least .25” inside the trim line.

What are the border requirements?

We ask that you design with a minimum safety margin of .25” within the trim. If you choose to include a border on your artwork, please leave a .25” safety margin to maintain border consistency all around your menu. The thicker the border, the better it will look after trimming.

Who is responsible for artwork accuracy?

You are responsible for the accuracy of your artwork. We strongly encourage you to proofread your menus very carefully before submitting them to waterproofmenu.com

Do custumers see a proof?

We generally only send to proofs if we feel there is an issue with the files or if we are custom designing the menu for you. If you request a proof, we can show you a preview of what we are about to print.

What should i know before submitting artwork?

By submitting the artwork to waterproofmenu.com, you certify that you are legally authorized to use any and all images in your artwork files.

You also certify that if you don’t own the copyright on the images you submit, that you have permission to use the art from the copyright holder.

Waterproofmenu.com reserves the right to refuse an order without disclosing a reason.
